Heartland Says: Stop Picking on ALEC!!!!!

It had been so long since I had seen anything of/by/for ALEC in the media that I had begun to think that the new Edelman PR strategy for the American Legislative Exchange Council was RUN!!!!! HIDE!!!!!

But – today the Heartland came out with an article about how ALEC is being picked on.
Bravo for Heartland!  ALEC is being picked on.

Where the truth of it is – that Heartland and ALEC’s anti-renewable energy legislation, The Electricity Freedom Act, is being flushed down the toilet and I think Heartland is just as pissed about THEIR legislation getting trashed – as they are about defending ALEC.

Here you go:
Heartland Institute Newsletter

March 4, 2013
James M. Taylor, J.D.

The Ceres Foundation, which recruits corporate members by claiming to be a cooperative advocate for environmental education and a sustainable future, is instead aggressively and intolerantly picking fights with corporations and public policy organizations who don’t share Ceres’ political agenda.

Bullying Campaign Targets Energy
The latest example of Ceres playing the intolerant bully against other corporations and public policy groups is a campaign targeting ALEC and its members.

In 2012, ALEC legislators responded to escalating electricity prices and the failed promises of the renewable power industry by approving the Electricity Freedom Act. The Electricity Freedom Act is model legislation, presented by the Heartland Institute,

The legislation merely pointed out the shortcomings of renewable power mandates and proposed replacing the mandates with a freedom-focused energy economy.
The legislation
Do you hear yourself Taylor?
The Heartland/ALEC Electricity Freedom Act is legislation
It is not some type of position paper pointing out theoretical differences.
It is legislation
Coalition of Extremists
Most strikingly, Ceres claims wind power and other forms of renewable power are less expensive than conventional power sources. Common sense dictates that if such were true, the renewable power industry would not need laws forcing consumers to purchase their product.
FORCING CONSUMERS
Really?
ALEC/Heartland LEGISLATION FORCES CONSUMER to do things.
Position policies – like those held by Ceres don’t FORCE CONSUMERS to do anything
– except, maybe think for themselves
– which is something ALEC legislators CAN’T do.

According to Taylor – those Ceres folks are a bunch of really nasty people
– picking on ALEC!!!!
The Ceres Foundation,    , is instead aggressively and intolerantly picking fights with corporations and public policy organizations

personal and aggressive against ALEC.

February 2013 Ceres began contacting ALEC members

pressuring the members to withdraw from ALEC

Ceres sent to ALEC members a letter conveying a   a particular hostility to groups supporting economic freedom

Ceres’ aggressive intolerance against people

Singling out for disdain two entities that prominently advocate for “conservative” economic freedoms: the Ceres letters assert “ALEC … is now partnering with the Heartland Institute, a conservative public policy think tank, and Americans for Tax Reform, led by Grover Norquist….”

And what was Ceres doing that was so
Aggressive
Intolerant
Hostile
Pressuring

Here's what Taylor tells you Ceres did - Ceres wrote a letter
Yep, Cere wrote a letter
- that included
all these
    Aggressive
    Intolerant
    Hostile
    Pressuring
things :

“The purpose of this letter is to ask you to think seriously about your ALEC membership, and the degree to which it may be detrimental to [your company’s] credibility and ability to follow through on its public commitments.”

“ALEC … is now partnering with the Heartland Institute, a conservative public policy think tank, and Americans for Tax Reform, led by Grover Norquist….”
YEP
That’s the best he can do to exemplify
Aggressive
Intolerant
Hostile

And who is funding this
   Aggressive
   Intolerant
   Hostile
   Pressuring
Attack on ALEC?

Of the 64 companies Taylor names as supporting this
    Aggressive
    Intolerant
    Hostile
    Pressuring
attack on ALEC
sixteen of those horrible companies supporting Ceres'
    Aggressive
    Intolerant
    Hostile
    Pressuringattack on ALEC
are
past and present ALEC Corporate Profit Sector Members

According to Taylor
Dozens of corporations are funding Ceres’ campaign of political intolerance against   ...   ALEC. Among the more prominent corporate funders are
Bank of America
Best Buy
Brown-Forman
Coca-Cola
Consolidated Edison,
Dell
eBay
Exelon
Ford
General Motors
Intuit
PepsiCo
PG&E,
Prudential
Time Warner
Wells Fargo
Those nasty ALEC members
Funding an organization that picks on ALEC

Kick them out the door of the next ALEC meeting

Oh Yeh,
Some of them – have already DUMPED ALEC.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
