ALEC - Legislative Terrorists!

DAMN I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants on this one.
Second time today the right wing has made me laugh that hard – more later tonight.

I was also thinking after writing this that we need to write a piece of left-wing radical opponent legislation about this and publish it.

We would call it
The ALEC Legislative Terrorism Act.

BUT first

– you are aware of the American Legislative Exchange Council's (ALEC)
???????????????????

If you aren’t – read this Daily Kos diary – written almost a year ago.
The bill has passed in many forms in many states.

Basically what it says is if you protest at a large agribusiness or research facility
YOU are an eco-terrorist and should be charged with a felony and thrown into a jail run by one of ALEC’s profit sector member.

The older version of this bill included a paragraph that if you donated money to nonprofit organizations that protested at large agribusinesses and research facility – YOU are an eco-terrorist and should be charged with a felony and thrown into a jail run by one of ALEC’s profit sector member.

Well today this appeared on Think Progress
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano eventually ordered the report withdrawn because of significant political backlash from mainstream conservatives. But the report, which was originally commissioned by the Bush administration, also found that “lone wolves and small terrorist cells embracing violent rightwing extremist ideology are the most dangerous domestic terrorism threat in the United States.”

A look at terrorist incidents since the Oklahoma City bombing, including both successful and disrupted ideologically-motivated attacks, backs up the conclusions of the DHS report:

Fifty-six percent of domestic terrorist attacks and plots in the U.S. since 1995 have been perpetrated by right-wing extremists, as compared to 30 percent by ecoterrorists and 12 percent by Islamic extremists. Right-wing extremism has been responsible for the greatest number of terrorist incidents in the U.S. in 13 of the 17 years since the Oklahoma City bombing.

With this Think Progress graph.

My conclusion based on this:
I guess those right wing extremist a$$holes
at ALEC,
those ALEC legislative terrorists,
better start throwing themselves into prison.
